Dress: Kate Spade, old (similar) // Denim shirt: c/o Marley Lilly // Shoes: Target, old (similar) // Bag: Rebecca Minkoff, sold out (similar) // Sunglasses: Coach, old (similar) // Lips: Marc Jacobs "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" Lipstick

One final down and a presentation tomorrow and that's the end of my junior year of college. It feels strange having a few days in between to rest so I've dedicated my time to binge watching a bunch of British shows (I have a massive love for historical dramas and the Brits do it the best! I'm weird, I know haha) and finishing up some last minute papers. As far as my outfits go, I've been super casual and surprisingly wore something a little different yesterday for brunch. Everyone needs a classic striped dress in their closet but with a denim shirt wrapped around your waist? This just totally elevated my outfit. It's not like it was cold or anything but it just made the outfit look so right and adds to the sporty feel of this outfit with the slip on sneakers. It actually reminds me of when I was a kid and my mom would make me bring a jacket wherever I go and would tie it around my waist like this. Oh, the 90's (thus the title of this post!) ♥ Anyways, it's super flattering and I highly recommend it if you're going out for brunch and eating foods with mega carbs in it and need to hide your food baby.

Also, in case you think that my hair looks different in these photos that's because it is! It was time to go to the salon and I finally got rid of those pesky black roots that I just wasn't feeling anymore. Hair that's three different colors? Doesn't work for everyone. So I spent 4 hours in the salon getting my roots to a light brown shade and a fresh dark blonde balayage that looks more platinum in these photos for some reason haha. I actually didn't straighten my hair and left it natural but the color looks so much better when it's straight!

How's finals going for you guys? Any amazing plans for the summer? Love to hear them!

Travel Beauty Essentials | No comments:

Lancome Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover - After a long day of sightseeing, I'm always too exhausted to remove my makeup but this stuff makes it so easy. All you need is a cotton ball or a paper towel and pour a little bit on there and it'll remove even the toughest mascaras off in seconds. Despite it technically being an eye makeup remover, I use it on my face as well and once I've wiped everything off I just wash my face with plain old water and call it a night. It always leaves my skin so soft!

Essie "Jamaica Me Crazy" - Before I go on a long vacation, I'll get a good old pedicure and gel manicure in order to not worry about my nails for a while but I always bring an extra polish just in case. Essie is my go-to brand and they always have the best summer colors that are vibrant and last a long time without chipping. "Jamaica Me Crazy" is my latest obsession and has the perfect amount of shimmer without being childish.

YSL Touche Eclat Blur Perfector - If you're prone to an oily t-zone like I am, then a good primer is a must. This one from YSL isn't heavy on the skin and you can wear it under or over your makeup. Plus how gorgeous is that packaging?!

St. Tropez Self Tanning Bronzer Mousse - I hate going on vacation without having a tan and since I'm against tanning beds (um hello premature aging and skin cancer!), my go-to is St. Tropez which you can read my review here. It's super easy to use, dries quick, and doesn't leave those annoying streaks.

Dr. Jart Water Fusion BB Cream - My everyday BB cream that I can't live without! I can't stand the feeling of regular foundation and prefer something with light coverage so Dr. Jart's BB Creams always do the trick. They have them in different formulas but the Water Fusion one is my favorite. When you apply it, you can feel little water drops turning into cream as you rub it into your skin. It's refreshing and gives my skin a clear, natural look without feeling heavy.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Concealor - I'm going to put up an in-depth review of this soon but this is my new favorite concealer that's super light and feels refreshing under the eyes (and I do 2 layers!) and covers up dark circles if you're stuck with them eternally like I am.

Aveda Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade - Straight hair plus humid temperatures is a terrible combo so I've searched everywhere for a good hair product that prevents my hair from getting frizzy without making it look greasy. This one from Aveda is incredible and you only need a tiny bit so it's worth the expensive price.

Blistex Lip Medex - I can't leave my house with good old chapstick and this one from Blistex is holy grail worthy. Nothing compares to how quickly this softens your lips and gets rid of dryness even in the worst places like planes.

What are some of your favorite beauty essentials for traveling? I'd love to know!

Open Back Shirts + Lace Bras | 1 comment:

My quest for finding the perfect open-back shirt has finally come to an end! Last fall, I fell in love with this lace bra from Victoria's Secret and knew that I had to find the perfect open back shirt in order to show it off. Personally, I'm not a fan of showing off a lot of skin. I prefer to keep it classy and I always believed that less is more. That's what made it so hard to find a decent open back shirt! Everything was either too risque or too short or too...you get the point. And then one day, I was browsing through the fitness section of Old Navy and that's when I saw it: an open back shirt that wasn't too revealing, wasn't too expensive, and actually looked perfect paired with a lace bra. Sold! The search took so long, ugh! I ended up buying the shirt in black and white and wore them both this week with different style bras. I got so many compliments that I knew I had to share it with you gals as well. I linked some of my favorites which are from Victoria's Secret and Aerie and of course the perfect open back shirt. Strangely, they only have the maternity size ones left online but if you size down it'll be fine or check in Old Navy stores. For bras that have a racerback (such as the one I'm wearing) open-back shirts work best but I also linked wide-neck shirts that naturally fall on one shoulder so that way you can wear bras with fancy straps with them. Trust me, I've been thinking about this combo for a long time haha #fashionnerd

I'll be sharing a full outfit post of this look soon so stay tuned, it's just I was afraid that the shirt was going to sell out so I thought I should link it now. In other news, happy Friday everyone! Today was the last day of classes for me so now I have to study for my final on Monday. This semester just went by so fast!

Blue Off The Shoulder Top | 13 comments:

Top: H&M Conscious Collection, check in stores (similar) (similar) // Jeans: Hollister, old (similar) // Sandals: J. Crew Factory, on sale now! // Bag: c/o Saint Laurent via Bagdujour // Glasses: Gucci // Bow bracelet: Kate Spade // Watch: Michael Kors, old (similar) // Belt bracelet: Michael Kors, on sale for $33! // White bracelet: Macy's, old (similar) // Lips: NYX Matte Lip Cream in "Istanbul"

A whole week with nothing but sunshine and good weather is rare in Rochester but it finally happened. One of my favorite moments during the spring season is the first time that you can wear your favorite spring clothes without getting cold such as this outfit. I can't explain how obsessed I am with off the shoulder tops, it's bad I tell you. Everywhere I look, there's so many cute ones! And don't get me started on off the shoulder dresses. Believe it or not, this one that I'm wearing was only $10 but sadly I couldn't find it online so check in stores cause there was plenty in stock! It's from the Conscious Collection that comes out every summer. My only complaint is that I don't have broad shoulders (ugh so petite) so this one keeps riding up as you can see in some of the photos.

This is also my very first shoot with my glasses on! haha. Normally, I wear contacts but the day these were shot I was feeling lazy and liked the way the leopard stood out from the rest of the outfit. I linked them below in a dark brown shade just in case you're looking for a new pair.

Outside of the blogging, it's crazy to say that this is the last full week of school and next week are finals. I always say that I'm lucky to go to a college that gives us four months of summer break but it's hard having finals so early. Can't complain, am I right? I just wanna go on vacation already haha.

A Summer in Istanbul | No comments:

I'm so excited to announce my next trip which is to the city that I've been visiting since I was 4 years old...Istanbul! Just in case you couldn't tell by my weird name, I'm Turkish and while I was born and raised in the U.S. (the first person in my family to be exact, so special!) my parents are from Istanbul. Since the majority of my family lives there, we always go and visit them during the summertime. I'm so lucky to be able to visit so frequently because let me tell ya, Istanbul is such a magical place filled with so much history and culture while still remaining modern and cutting edge. Plus not everyone gets to say that they've visiting the only city in the world that's located on both Europe and Asia!

I haven't been to Istanbul in three years because of college and the last time I was there I didn't have a blog so I never really got to share my experiences there. That's why you can only imagine why I'm so excited to be able to document so many beautiful places, talk about what fashion is like there (people are really into it over there like you wouldn't believe), and of course add to the travel section of this blog. Lucky for me, school ends at the end of this month and I'll be leaving a week afterwards so not much time left! In the mean time, here's some pieces that I thought would be perfect to wear while there. I'm also thinking about doing a "what I'm packing" post and other travel posts dedicated to international traveling since I've been doing it for pretty much my whole life. I swear, half the fun of traveling is all the things that you get to blog about beforehand haha.

The White Blazer | 3 comments:

Blazer: J. Crew // Top: J. Crew (also scalloped version) // Jeans: J. Crew // Shoes: Sam Edelman // Bag: c/o Saint Laurent via Bagdujour // Watch: Michael Kors // Pearl bracelet: Baublebar, old (similar

Lately it's just been presentation after presentation at school and I'm running out of things to wear that are professional so I decided to invest in a new blazer. Naturally, J. Crew has a great range of blazers and I thought this white one would be refreshing for spring (no one ever wears white blazers for some reason!) and is super lightweight and breathable. I've mentioned in my How to Get Out of a Fashion Rut post, that the first step is to have more neutrals in your closet and it seems to be working. As for the purple top that I'm wearing underneath, I always prefer thin tank tops underneath a blazer and the color of this one is so flattering and pops beautifully against the white. I also linked a scalloped neckline version which I thought was adorable! I bought it last year but J. Crew seems to have brought this one back so make sure to get them in plenty of colors while you can.

Lastly, this SAINT LAURENT BEAUTY (it deserves to be in all capitals haha) completely stole my heart and I've been wearing it non stop these past couple of weeks. I'm going to be crying at the post office when I have to send this back at the end of the month because it's just so beautiful and the process of getting it was so easy through Bagdujour. I already posted a review about their bag borrowing service and can't wait to show you more outfits with it soon.

Thanks for reading and happy Friday! Any exciting plans? I'm headed to brunch at a new restaurant and I'm dying to try their chicken and waffles haha. Yes I'm the type of person that gets excited about food!

Kerastase Discipline Curl Ideal Voxbox | 1 comment:

Not gonna lie, I always despised my curly/wavy hair (which one is it, I don't know!). It's such a battle getting it to look good in it's natural form (here's a rare post with my natural hair) so I always just blow dry it straight and call it a day. Sadly, I've never found too many products that works well for curly hair without weighing it down or making it look greasy. That's why I was intrigued when I was chosen for the Kerastase Discipline Curl voxbox which is specifically for managing curly hair. The voxbox contains the Cleansing Conditioner and the Oleo Curl which is a styling product to use afterwards. P.S. you don't have to be a blogger in order to receive free voxboxes in the mail! Just sign up here and connect your Facebook account.

Why no shampoo you ask? Because the Cleansing Conditioner does it for you! Woah, I know. Curly hair tends to be dry and needs lot of moisturize in order to be healthy but regular shampoos tend to be too harsh and strips away the natural oils. I've heard of conditioners that clean your hair before but there's so few out on the market and I always hear mixed reviews about it so I was surprised when Kerastase had their version of it.

All you have to do is wet your hair, apply it to your scalp and spread along to your roots and tips, leave in for 3-5 minutes, and then rinse. The results? For my hair it was a little too heavy and weighed down my curls but that could be from using too much product or that I left it on my hair for too long. Also, my hair just didn't feel clean especially because I use so many styling products and the Cleansing Conditioner wasn't strong enough to get rid of the build up.

Although I will say my curls were a lot more defined and smoother and the SMELL. Kerastase products always smell amazing! I could definitely see this being a great product for someone with super thick, uncontrollable, curly hair that needs a lot of moisturize and doesn't use a lot of styling products. Just keep in mind that the amount of product that you use depends on the thickness of your hair.

As for the Oleo Curl styling product, I used a dime size amount throughout my curls when it was dry and the results weren't spectacular or anything. It defined my curls for a couple of hours and got rid of the frizz that I absolutely hate so that was a plus. But it seems just like every other styling product for curly hair out there. Although once again, the smell is just amazing!

Thanks for reading and what are your favorite products for curly hair?

How to Make Your Straight Hairstyle Survive Until Morning | No comments:

For curly hair gals like me, straightening our hair is a lot of work and we like to do it as a little as possible. In fact, I usually straighten my hair at night because it takes it so long and I'm pretty sure I would be at least 2 hours late to class if I even attempted to do it in the morning. So how exactly does my hair stay perfectly straight until morning? With this one simple trick:

I like to call it the face ponytail haha. Okay, so there's no official name for this and I'm not even sure how I came across this technique because I'm 100% sure I didn't come up with it on my own. But it works and it's not a common technique so naturally I thought I should share it with you gals!

After blow-drying my hair straight (which you can read more about and the products I use here) and it's time for bed, I brush my hair and pull it all the way to an extremely high ponytail (it should be past the top of your head!) and secure with a ponytail holder that isn't too tight or else you'll wake up with a headache in the morning. Now, if you did this right then your ponytail should be hanging in front of your face. Yes, it's weird but we do weird stuff for beauty am I right? Whether you sleep on your back or on your side, this trick will help to keep your hair tangle-free and most importantly: straight all the way until the morning. The best part is that when you wake up and take out the ponytail, you'll have incredible volume and will pretty much look like a super model throughout the day. Just sayin.

Word of advice: in order for this to work, your hair has to be 100% dry. Sometimes when I blow-dry my hair straight, I miss certain spots such as the back and it'll cause the rest of my hair to get wet throughout the night so be careful.

Hope this post helps! I know that's such a simple tip and you were probably expecting something much more complicated due to the title of the post haha. Nope! Life is already complicated enough (especially Mondays), your hair shouldn't be.

How to Buy Your Dream Handbag With Bagdujour | No comments:

Ever since I can remember, I've always been dreaming about designer handbags. Of course, the price tag? Not so much. I always assumed that I would finally have the chance to splurge on one once I had a full-time job after college. Yet when Bagdujour offered me a chance to try out their bag borrowing service, I just couldn't resist! Bagdujour is all about being smart and affordable with handbags by offering people the chance to rent authentic handbags on a monthly basis. From Valentino to Chloe, there's just so many to choose from and it's a great way to test out your dream bag before making the big decision to invest a lot of money into one. Speaking of investing, just in case you're in the market for a new bag (to permanently own) and looking for a place that's trustworthy, you also have the option of buying bags directly from the site.

For my first designer handbag, I decided to go with the Saint Laurent Classic Baby Sac du Jour in Black. Just like with the little black dress, every girl needs a little black handbag that they can always count on to complete their outfit.  I seriously can't stop touching the bag because it's so buttery soft and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be wearing it every single day this month until I have to return it. I'm so glad I went with this bag because it goes with practically anything and has a timeless design. It comes with a crossbody strap so you can wear it with casual outfits and a lock with keys which I thought was adorable! Despite the fact that these bags are used, they look brand new to me! Not one single stain or even a scratch anywhere. It's like I just bought it from the Saint Laurent store.

I can't recommend Bagdujour enough and if you're a fashionista, this should be your go-to spot for luxury handbags for less. I can't wait to show you what outfits I've styled featuring this handbag later on this month!

How to Get Out of a Fashion Rut | No comments:

Ugh. That just completely describes my feelings when it comes to my clothes lately. It's like everything I own is awful! I've noticed that I always feel this way when it's a new season and I have to switch up what I'm wearing. Last week, I went shopping and just couldn't even get myself to buy anything! What is happening!? I decided to do some research and found out that I'm actually stuck in a fashion rut which is pretty much when you're unsatisfied with clothes and your wardrobe, in general. Talk about an awful situation for a fashion blogger! haha. Luckily, I finally found some solutions to the problem and thought I should share them with you all:

Start With Neutrals - As the wise Michael Kors once said "70% of the clothes you own should be meat and potatoes. 30% should be icing and fluff - that's color, pattern, shine, and accessories. Too many women get the proportions the other way around, then can't figure out why they can't get dressed". This is pretty much the #1 reason why I'm stuck in a rut. I practically have no neutrals in my closet and a whole bunch of colorful, patterned stuff that I don't even wear! Big mistake. Invest in some high quality neutral pieces that you can mix and match and wear for years to come.

Buy Less, Choose Wisely - This has always been my philosophy but when I'm stuck in a fashion rut, I always feel like I need to buy something new cause I just can't stand my old clothes. But then a few days later I hate myself for it! Instead of focusing on buying something new, spend more time thinking about the article of clothing and if it's really worth it. How often are you going to wear it? Can you wear it for more than one season? Does it go with a lot of your outfits?

Vibes Don't Lie - If what you're buying isn't making you excited and giving you some kind of feeling, then forget about it. Clothes should make you happy and confident once you put it on. Think of this the next time you're cleaning out your wardrobe!

Make a List - In order to avoid temptation, make a list of all the things that your wardrobe is lacking and bring it with you when you go shopping next time. Not only will this save you money but you won't be buying unnecessary things that will only collect dust in the back of your closet.

Pinterest Is Your Best Friend - Create a secret board and fill it with images of outfits that you like, colors, and what you're going for as far as your personal look goes. It makes it so much easier to understand what your style is like especially if you're like me and have a style that's all over the place!

I hope these tips helped! Let me know if any of this works for you or if you have any other tips that I didn't mention! I would love to hear them.
