#BloggerBoss: How to Deal With Blog Haters

Critics. Haters. Just Plain Annoying People. Whatever you wanna call them, we all have people in our lives that are dream killers and tell us things like "blogging is pointless", "you make money by writing and taking pictures of yourself?!" or the classic "be realistic!". Even though it's 2016, blogging and other careers involving the Internet and social media still isn't acceptable by society. My major in college is all about marketing, social media, and PR yet there's tons of people that still don't take me seriously. Sure, it's getting better but there is still a long way to go. That's why I thought this post would be a perfect topic to cover for #BloggerBoss and hopefully you'll get something out of it.

Beyonce Wasn't Built In a Day - Think you're the only person in the world getting discouraged for their dreams everyday? Think again.  Remind yourself that there is tons of celebrities, billionaires, inventors, and business owners that have gotten criticized for being "unrealistic" before they made it big. The difference between them and you? They chose not to listen. Keep moving forward and working hard. Things just don't happen right away and one day, you're going to be glad that you didn't give up. Be patient, your time is coming.

Surround Yourself With Positive People - It took me a long time to get rid of all the negative people out of my life but once I did, I felt so much better. It's easier to achieve your goals when you have people motivating you and genuinely feeling happy about your accomplishments, no matter how small they are.

Vent to the Blogging Community - No one understands blog haters as much as an actual blogger does! Attend blog conferences, meet up with bloggers in your area, or join Twitter chats. There's tons of bloggers out there going through the same issues that you are. If all else fails, feel free to send me an email ( and we'll have a vent session over some coffee.

Remember Why You're Doing It - I'll admit, it's tempting to get "revenge" on people who underestimated you but it's not a good way to motivate yourself to succeed. The only reason why you should be blogging is for you.

Be Grateful - So you're making money from blogging, have readers who care about what you have to say, and you're pretty happy about it. Not a lot of people have these accomplishments under their belt. In the grand scheme of things, haters are nothing to worry your pretty little head about. Focus on being grateful for everything instead.

  1. I love this post so much! I think a lot of people don't realllllly "get" blogging, but it's definitely a growing industry...competition and opportunities.

I just hate when people are like, "I should start a blog and then I'll get free stuff too." Uh. First of all, you don't just get free stuff because you have a blog...and it's not really free, considering you need to work to create a post!

    Something About That

  2. Yes to everything! I agree with Jackie as well! People don't understand all the hard work that goes into it, it's not just writing it's knowing your audience, doing all the back end things so that your hard work pays off! I treat this as a business even though I work full time.

You are so right, Beyonce was not built in a day!
