Best Looks of 2015

Happy New Year's Eve everyone! I'm so excited for 2016 to start and see what it has in store for me. I have a feeling it's going to be even better than 2015. This year, I decided to have a low-key New Year's Eve (champagne is always necessary though haha) and didn't shoot a look for tonight so I thought I could share my favorite looks this past year. My style has defiantly evolved compared to last year but I'm still in love with feminine pieces and I'm sure that will never change. As you can see, most of my favorite looks were from the summer and that's just because I love summer clothes and miss warm weather so much!

Hope you have an awesome time ringing in the New Year! Let's make 2016 the best year ever!

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale Picks

Today it officially started snowing where I live and I'll admit, I haven't been buying much winter clothes since we've had such a warm couple of months. That's why I'm glad the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale has started (plus I have Christmas money to spend haha) so I can stock up on sweaters, boots, and okay even a new bag but there's no such thing as too many bags am I right?

Happy shopping!

All That Glitters...

There's very few times of year where glittery things are socially acceptable to wear and New Years is one of them. Whether you're a girl who loves matte sequins that are more subtle or want to go all out with a more sparkly number, I linked all kinds that are suitable for the occasion. Of course, if you just want to add a tiny bit of sparkle to your everyday wardrobe, I added a couple accessories which could instantly brighten your day (or year!).

I don't know about you but I'm really excited and hopeful for the new year. I just love the idea of new beginnings even though 2015 has pretty much been the best year so far for me. Not everything was smooth sailing but I was able to step out of my comfort zone so many times and rise up to challenges. I was also able to cross London and Paris off my bucket list, attend my first blog conference, and even be able to present to my social media class about my blog. I think we get so focused on making resolutions and improving ourselves for the New Year, that we don't realize how far we've already come. I hope you all take a second to reflect on your accomplishments this past year and be proud of it. We never seem to give ourselves enough credit am I right?

Thanks for reading,

The Gold Dress

Photography: Kate O'Brien

Dress: Forever 21, sold out (similar) (similar) // Shoes: Nine West // Clutch: DSW, old (similar) // Lips: Mac "Rebel" Lipstick

Hey ladies, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I typically don't update the blog on Saturdays but I couldn't wait to share these gorgeous photos that were recently shot by my photographer, Kate. Make sure to visit kobrienphotography.com to see more of her work! Every year on Christmas Eve, my friend throws an amazing Christmas party so I decided to go all out and wear this gold number this year. As far as fashion goes, Christmas is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and wear something sparkly. I typically don't get to wear sparkly dresses like this in my day to day life so it's nice to switch it up and look glam for a change (I've been in pajamas ever since school ended! haha). I have many one shoulder dresses in my closet but this one I'm particularly fond of because of the grecian-inspired fit and how the color just stands out.

As for makeup, I also usually wear red lipstick on special occasions but this time around I decided to go for a berry color and found Mac's "Rebel" as the perfect shade. It's so pretty on many different skin tones so I recommend checking it out if you're on the hunt for a new lip color.

Hope you have a nice weekend, the few days left until the New Year always feels so strange doesn't it? It's a great time to unwind from all the Christmas events but at the same time it's so quiet haha. I don't know, maybe that's just me!

CoverGirl Voxbox

Happy Christmas Eve lovelies! Yesterday I was getting the mail when I discovered that Influenster had sent me the CoverGirl voxbox. Talk about a perfect Christmas gift! You can never have too many makeup products in your collection, especially free products. The best part is that you don't have to be a blogger in order to get a voxbox. Simply register on Influenster and connect your Facebook account and you'll be one step closer to getting a voxbox.

I was surprised to find that the CoverGirl voxbox contained the Plumpify Mascara, Colorliscious Oh Sugar! Lip Tint in "Taffy", and the truNaked Shadow "Roses" Palette (yes you heard right, a big huge palette!). Totally lucked out this time around! I've noticed most makeup voxboxes only contains one product so it was awesome to find 3 full-size products. I'm a big fan of the "nude look" so I immediately fell in love with these three products cause I can actually use them for my everyday makeup.

First up, is the truNaked Shadow "Roses" Palette which contains 4 matte shadows and 4 shimmer shadows. Although the name of the palette is "Roses", many of the colors are coppers, browns, and dark greys. Here's a swatch of each color:

In my past experience, drugstore eyeshadows always seem to go on chalky and aren't pigmented enough but I was pleasantly surprised to see that these went on amazing! They were super creamy and blended easily. The only problem I had was with fading so I recommend using an eyeshadow primer in order to get the most out of it.

As for the Plumpify Mascara, I'm never disappointed by CoverGirl mascaras and this was another great one that I could add to my collection. It gave my lashes an incredible amount of lift for that flirty, bright-eyed look. As for volume, I didn't think it made my lashes look that thick but it did make them look longer. I've noticed plastic mascara brushes work better for lift and lengthening but for volume, I always go with an actual brush mascara (if that makes sense! haha).

Lastly, the lip tint which is a warm, reddish-brown hue that goes on smoothly and smells like peppermint. I thought the color wasn't flattering on my skin tone but would look better on someone with tan skin. I think it's nice to use as a lip balm though since it moisturized my lips quite well!

Hope this review helped in case you were on the look out for some new makeup products! I hope you all have an amazing Christmas!!

Free People Top

Top: Free People, sold out (similar) // Boots: Nine West // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Bag: Rebecca Minkoff // Lipstick: Mac "Velvet Teddy"

Lately I've been taking advantage of the unusual warm weather we've been having and wearing clothes that were meant for the spring and summer. I always wondered what it's like to live in a city with a warm climate during the winter and I finally got my wish haha. I decided to splurge (what is else is new?) and got this Free People shirt which is so much more gorgeous in person. At first, I was hesitant to try it on since I thought it would make me look like a pilgrim (that collar tho) but it's actually quite flattering! The embroidered polka dots and flowy material makes it the perfect bohemian yet girly piece. It's sold out online but I saw the black one on sale in stores. Personally every time I go into a Free People store, I don't want to leave because everything in there is so beautiful and designed to perfection. I wish I can own more pieces from them but of course being a broke college girl especially around Christmas time limits me :(

Thanks for reading and only a few more days until Christmas, yay!!

Traveling In Style With Vera Bradley

(This post is sponsored by Vera Bradley and Her Campus Media. All opinions are my own.)

We've all seen those old photos of people in the 1960's looking all chic while traveling on planes. Back then, there was something glamorous about traveling and I wish it still existed today. Of course, it's tough to think about fashion when you're going on an international flight or have to wear the comfiest shoes possible cause you're going to be walking in a big city all day! So what's a fashionista to do? With brands like Vera Bradley out there, it's easy to look stylish in this day and age! Here are my best tips to looking glam while traveling. Remember if all else fails, just think about all the likes on Instagram you're going to get! haha.

Tip 1: Hats and Scarves = Instantly Chic

If you're like me and don't have time to do your hair while traveling, then a hat is the way to go! It's perfect if you're going to meet someone right after a long flight and makes you look instantly polished. As for the scarf, they're a great way to accessorize, keeps you warm, and they're lightweight so you can easily put it in your bag.

Tip 2: Always Go With Flats

High heels? Wedges? I'd rather play it safe with a comfy pair of flats that have already been broken in. Still wanna wear sneakers? Try some cute slip on sneakers with pretty patterns and fabrics which are comfy, effortless (they have no laces!), and makes you look put together.

Tip 3: Vera Bradley Duffle Bags Are Your Best Friend

Forget about annoying suitcases and ridiculous fees, a duffle bag is the way to go! This one from Vera Bradley in the gorgeous color "Vera Vera Plum", is perfect for all sorts of travel plans and you'll be tempted to over-pack since it has so much room in it.

Just like most girls around my age, Vera Bradley is a brand that I grew up with and consider their duffle bags to be my best friend. They're unique, dependable, and sometimes you discover something
new about them. I mean just look at the inside of the bag! I've never seen that pattern before haha.

One of the things that stands out about Vera Bradley bags is the strong material and beautiful stitching. It's so pretty to look at yet never falls apart, no matter how much stuff I put into it. They also come in a variety of colors, patterns, and sizes. It's such a great investment and I consider it to be an essential for every traveler.

Tip 4: Great Makeup

You would be surprised at how much of a difference a little bit of makeup can do to make you look refreshed after a long flight. I usually like to pack one palette that might have a few neutral eyeshadows in it along with an evening lipstick (if we're going anywhere fancy) and a toner spray. The toner spray comes in handy if you have dry skin like me or just need to look awake after not sleeping on the plane.

Thanks for reading and safe travels if you're going anywhere for the holidays!

Fringe

Photography: Kate O'Brien

Blazer: J. Crew // Top: J. Crew // Jeans: Hollister // Shoes: Tahari, old (similar) // Bag: Michael Kors // Necklace: J. Crew, old (similar)

I'm so excited to be sharing one of my favorite photoshoots that I've ever done for the blog. If there's one outfit that I loved wearing in 2015, it's this one! I fell in love when I saw this reddish orange blazer at J. Crew (where else?) that fits like a glove paired with the real star of this outfit: the fringe top! It's such a unique combination that I randomly tried in store one day and took a chance and bought it. It's perfect for holiday parties and can easily be paired with a black pencil skirt for a dressed-up look.

As for the lovely photos, my genius photographer Kate and I had a fun day shooting at not one but two coffee shops in Rochester! As cliche as it sounds, I always wanted to do a shoot at a coffee shop and these ones turned out even better than I expected. If you're looking for a photographer and live in the Rochester area, I highly recommend Kate!

Gift Guide: For the Home

If you feel like playing it safe this holiday season, then I recommend a gift that someone can use to decorate their home with. It's much more meaningful than a simple gift card but also easier than trying to guess what kinds of clothes or accessories they would like. Everyone could use something to make their home look extra pretty! They could also come in useful if you have to find a gift for someone that you don't know too well or for a mom. Personally, I don't know too much about home decor (as you can tell, I never talk about it on the blog!) but I adore the Gal Meets Glam x Baublebar collection and think that's a nice place to start plus they restocked so get some stuff before it sells out forever. I also think a cute candle from everyone's favorite macaroon shop, Laduree is a nice touch along with beautiful wall art which can make a classy and thoughtful gift.

Happy shopping!
