7 For All Mankind After Party

Hey ladies! As promised, here's a recap of the 7 For All Mankind after party that I got to attend along with a lovely group of Her Campus members. Not gonna lie, I felt pretty special getting chosen to attend and it made me feel like one of those popular fashion bloggers that gets to go to all those cool press events. Side note: Yes, I know I have no life haha. I can dream can't I?

As we all headed out of the conference center, Her Campus was awesome enough to provide transportation with a bus that had the cool 7 For All Mankind sign on it! My feet were killing me from my heels so I was grateful for the brief ride to the store in Soho (my favorite neighborhood!).

As we walked in, we were greeted by a bunch of stylish sales associates and was told about the special 30% discount on the ENTIRE store. It was defiantly our lucky day! Along with the discount, there was a raffle, mocktails, and a braid bar courtesy of Dry Bar. Oh how I wish I didn't curl my hair that day and sprayed pounds of hair spray in it or else I would've totally got my hair braided! At least my blogger bestie, Holly got hers done!

Afterwards, we checked out the new collection and I was totally in love with the black and white theme. Such a timeless combination am I right? There was also a lot of high waisted jeans and jean skirts which goes with the 70s trend that's popular in fashion right now. I also spotted pictures of fellow fashion bloggers Aimee Song and Chriselle Lim in their jeans!

Now I know what some of you are thinking: "Ruya, aren't those jeans crazy expensive?!"  Girl I'm not gonna lie. They're designer jeans for a reason. But I have a couple designer jeans in my closet and they've lasted me for years and I'm sure 7 For All Mankind jeans will too. Other than that, they hold their wash better, don't stretch out or rip, and look ridiculously good on your body in a way that most jeans can't. Seriously, the next time you're in a 7 For All Mankind store try on a pair and see what I mean!

Overall, my first after party was amazing and I hope to be able to attend more parties like this soon! Shout out to Her Campus for a spectacular conference and for throwing this after party. I'm so grateful to be a part of such a wonderful network

Grid Dress

Dress: Forever 21 (black version) // Bag: Michael Kors // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Watch: Michael Kors // Bracelet: Michael Kors // Shoes: Kenneth Cole Reaction

Hey ladies, here's what I wore to the Her Conference in NYC on Saturday. I woke up a half hour early just to have time to take these photos before the conference haha. Life is hard as a blogger! I had this dress in my closet for a while yet couldn't find the right occasion to wear it to. I originally wanted to wear a white midi skirt that I found on sale at H&M but couldn't find a good crop top to go with it so I went this dress which turned out to be a good choice (and only $25!). I got so many compliments during the conference and even had some photos taken by an intern for College Fashionista! If only I got her name :( If you're reading this, thank you for featuring me!

As for the accessories, I recently added these purple Ray-Bans to my sunglasses collection that's going to transition well into the fall along with these new heels. The conference was from 8am to 4:30 and surprisingly these heels didn't hurt my feet at all! I'm pretty sure it's because of the thicker, block heel. Did I mention the heels actually have black stones on them? Sadly, they didn't show up in the photos but the shoes are so much gorgeous in person. Of course after 4, I just had to change into flats since no one walks in heels in NYC haha. I highly recommend keeping some fold-able travel flats in your bag (myn fit in my crossbody!) if you're going to be walking a lot in a city.

Well that's it for now, now I'm off to work and my normal life. Every time I come back from a trip, I always feel so depressed being back home and just feel the urge to travel again. I wonder what my next destination is going to be ;)

Her Conference 2015 Recap

Hey ladies! I'm so excited to finally be able to share with you all the amazing things that happened at Her Conference! As I mentioned earlier this was my first blog conference and I'm happy to say that I had an incredible time. It was my first time being in a room filled with bloggers who are just like me and I got to share the experience with my blogger bestie (I just invented that haha), Holly from The Blonde Chiffon. We decided to attend the Saturday panels which is open to Her Campus members only. The Sunday panels is open to everyone so if you feel like attending next year (which you defiantly should!) then you can whether you're a member or not.

Right when I walked into the conference center and waited in line to check in (and get the awesome gift bag!), I was greeted by Brittany Lewis who is the Director of Community Development at Her Campus and who I've frequently worked with in the network. She instantly recognized me (even though we've never met in real life haha) and I can't tell you how much of an incredible feeling it was for someone to remember me and my blog. It's one thing to talk to people online but to make that connection in person and have someone recognize the hard work you're putting in, well let's just say I got a little emotional haha. If you're reading this Brittany, thank you for the kind words! :)

Moving on, we were all treated to a continental breakfast and then walked into this big conference room for the welcome and introduction. Afterwards, we get to choose which panels we want to attend so I went to the Careers in Social Media panel. It was PACKED and I ended up having to stand for an hour (in heels! ugh #shortgirlprobs) but it was worth it cause I got to hear some valuable advice from the experts. Social media is still a very new field and I usually don't get to meet people who work in the industry back home so it was great to really learn about what the profession is like.

Next up was the panel that I was most excited for...THE BUSINESS OF BLOGGING! Her Campus, I freaking love you for getting this panel together. One of my favorite bloggers of all time was there...CARLY FROM THE COLLEGE PREPSTER *stops breathing*. And I got a picture with her! Yup, my day wasn't made. My year was haha. It's incredible to see how someone so successful can be so humble and down to earth. It's like I was talking to my best friend! There was literally a line to get a picture with her and I was the last one but she took the time to answer my questions and really left a good impression on me. I'm incredibly inspired by her and she taught me that we should all aim to have both a good character online and in real life.

Afterwards, it was lunchtime so of course Her Campus being awesome, got us all free chipotle! That right there is the reason why you should go to the conference next year haha. Then we went back to the big conference room to hear valuable life advice from Michelle Tan who is the Editor-in-Chief of Seventeen. You would think she's intimidating because she has a powerful position but it was the complete opposite! She's everyone's spirit animal and had hilarious things to say such as "The devil doesn't wear prada. The devil eats chipotle."

The last panel I went to was Building Your Brand on Instagram with Hilary Rushford who is a personal stylist and creator of Dean Street Society. She was also at the Business of Blogging panel and was such a sweet lady so I was looking forward to hearing more from her. After a quick dance party (you think I'm joking!) we learned about Hilary's strategies, apps she uses, and why certain Instagrams are popular while others aren't. It was certainly eye-opening and I can't wait to start using her tips for my own account.

That concluded the panels and we finished the conference with a raffle (sadly I didn't win anything haha) and it was time to say goodbye to all the new blogger friends I made and head to the 7 For All Mankind after party which was also another first for me! I'll be sure to put up the post later on this week.

Thanks for reading this ridiculously long post and I hope this answers some questions on what blog conferences are like!

Current Obsession: 522 Envy

Being a fashionista and a blogger, I always love finding out about new shops whether they're big or small. Why go to the mall and wear whatever is "trendy" right now when you can find some one of a kind pieces? That's what I love about 522 Envy which I recently discovered while browsing online late one night. They sell a large selection of clothing that's perfect for any college girl and since they're inventory is constantly changing, you can be sure that no one else is wearing the same outfit as you (has that ever happened to anyone before? Awkward.). Although their boutique is mostly online-based, they do have a storefront location in Downtown Evanston, IL and frequently does pop-ups all around the Chicago area!
Here are some of my favorites at moment:

Obsessed with these colorful maxi dresses that's perfect if you're on the go and need to keep cool from humid temperatures.
The only bag that I wear during the summer is crossbody bags and this leopard one defiantly caught my eye. I love the way they added a pop of color with the orange tank top!
With the 70's revival going on in the fashion world right now, it's hard to resist this cold-shoulder peasant top. I can totally see myself wearing this outfit and might just have to buy the top asap!

How gorgeous is this floral kimono?! The perfect way to add some boho to your outfit!

If you love these clothes just as much as I do, then it's your lucky day! 522 was kind enough to give my readers a 20% off discount just by using the code 'SHOPWITHRUYA' so head over to 522 Envy to get your shop on!
Hope you enjoyed this post and let me know which pieces you loved!

The Perfect Weekend in NYC

Hey ladies, I'm so excited about my trip to NYC today! Funny enough, I forgot to mention it in my earlier posts this week since it didn't hit me that I was going until the actual day. I'm going to be in NYC for my first blog conference! I'll be attending the Her Campus conference on Saturday so if you're going to be there comment below or if you see me there, please say hi!

I can't wait to be able to meet so many new bloggers and learn more about the blogging world. I never knew that it would become one of my passions but over time I became addicted to it. If you're thinking about starting a blog, DO IT!

Of course, I had to stay in NYC for a weekend since I haven't been here in forever and I promised myself that I would explore it better this time around. The last time I was there, I did the usual stuff like Times Square but this time around I want to actually be able to get a good feel for the city. Traveling to Europe earlier this summer taught me that the best parts of a city isn't the tourist stuff but the little things such as random streets, shops, and seeing beauty in the most unexpected of places. I can't wait! Of course what's traveling without some blogging? I'll defiantly do a couple outfit posts while I'm there (gotta take advantage of the scenery!) and blog about the cool places I visited.

Bows and Stripes

Hat: H&M // Dress: Marshalls (similar 1) (similar 2) // Shoes: H&M (similar) // Bag: Michael Kors (cheaper alternative) // Sunglasses: Target (similar 1) (similar 2) // Belt bracelet: Michael Kors // Lock bracelet: Michael Kors // Necklace: DSW (similar 1) (similar 2)Watch: Michael Kors

One of my favorite outfits this summer is this one. I'm normally not a fan of striped dresses but after trying this one I defiantly changed my mind. First of all the pockets! Second, it's super comfortable and is totally one of those dresses that's perfect for days where you just don't have time to think about your outfit (which is everyday in my book). I decided to add a few girly touches here and there with my new favorite hat from H&M and this pink crossbody from Michael Kors. The hat is literally been on repeat in my closet and now I'm defiantly on the hunt for more summer hats to wear before the season is over :( I completed the look with these H&M flats that have a gold, glitter strap. Who says you can't wear glitter during the day?

What are some of your favorite outfits that you've worn this summer? Let me know!

The Perfect Gift for College Girls

Finding a gift for a college girl is hard, I would know since I'm super picky myself! From birthdays, sorority events, to graduations, there's always some sort of event that you need to buy a gift for. Earlier this month I discovered the jewelry shop, The Collegiate Standard and realized that this is the perfect place to find a gift for a college girl! They offer a large variety of sorority (and fraternity!) jewelry along with non-greek jewelry such as this Elephant necklace that they sent me. I always heard that elephants represent good luck and it must've been my lucky day since I was fortunate enough to have such a gorgeous piece!

Here's an up close shot of the necklace which is sterling silver and has lab created diamonds surrounding the body. It's also super light weight so it doesn't bother you if you're someone who doesn't wear jewelry on a frequent basis.

Of course there's tons of other types of jewelry if you're not a fan of necklaces such as the Kappa Alpha Theta bangle and this Crown ring

If you'd like to shop more jewelry or even learn how to become a campus rep then visit or follow them on social media at Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

Hope you enjoyed this post and let me know which ones are your favorite if you check out the site!

The Product Every Girl Needs In Her Beauty Bag

As someone who used to work in the fragrance industry, smelling good has always been important to me. After trying so many different fragrances and always being on the hunt for the next big thing, I jumped at the chance to try Bait Hair Perfume. Yes you heard right, perfume that you spray directly into your hair! Different, am I right? This is the first brand that I've heard of that offers perfume specifically designed for hair and I absolutely love the idea! I hate the smell of chemicals from my hair products and spraying regular perfume can harm your hair (especially color-processed) because of the high levels of alcohol in it. Bait on the other-hand, is completely safe and suitable for all hair types.

The four scents that I received are:

Femme Fatale - A warm, sensual scent that smells like pomegranate, vanilla, and dark amber. I would say this is perfect for the wintertime!

Heart Breaker - Very girly and sweet. Smells like sugar, cotton candy, and cupcakes. Sidenote: studies show guys are more attracted to sweet scents like this ;)

Skinny Dipper - This was my absolute favorite. Smells like coconut, suntan lotion, and citrus. The perfect scent for the summer!

Day Dreamer - Very light and airy. Great for someone who gets headaches from perfumes easily. Has hints of citrus, soft vanilla, and coconut.

I decided to put it to the test by using a couple hair products (hair spray, dry shampoo, etc.) and using 2-3 sprays of Bait's Skinny Dipper to see if it would cover up the chemical smells from the products. I recommend spraying it a couple inches away from your hair so it doesn't get all wet. Not only did my hair smell amazing and completely masked the odor from those products but it lasted the whole day! My hair didn't feel greasy either and I received a few compliments from my co-workers whenever I walked by them! The scent is subtle enough that you won't get a headache but also strong enough that people will faintly smell it as you walk by (or so my co-workers said!). I loved the smell so much that I decided to spray it on my skin and found that the smell lasts just as long!

If you would like to find out more about Bait or purchase their products, visit and get free shipping when you spend over $50!

Hope you enjoyed this post,

Sorority Style: Adam Block Design

It's never too early to start thinking about college and here at Sweet, Short & Stylish, I'm all about college fashion! With so many students being a part of greek life in college, I thought that I should share my favorite shop for all things greek: Adam Block Design

Adam Block Design is an online shop and an Offically Greek Licensed vendor that creates customized apparel for sorority and fraternity members. They carry a large selection of t-shirts, tank tops, hoodies, and accessories that can be customized by color, style, brand, and design. If you're looking for a new design from scratch they can do that too! Of course, if you're not in a sorority and simply looking for a new place to shop for graphic tees, shorts, and even rompers then check out their lifestyle clothing section.

I fell in love with their Kappa Alpha Theta perfume tank and can't wait to wear it once school starts. Not only does it show my love for perfumes and all things girly but is perfect for sorority events. They have so many stylish pieces to choose from and the best part is that it's great quality for affordable prices! This tank that I'm wearing only cost $24.99! Not bad right? They also give you the option of ordering in bulk so that way your entire sorority will look stylish.

If you want to know more about Adam Block Design be sure to check them out on

A Lilly Kind of Day

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer // Purse: Michael Kors // Heels: Steve Madden // Watch: Michael Kors // Belt bracelet: Michael Kors // Lock bracelet: Michael Kors // Sunglasses: Target (sold out) (similar 1) (similar 2)

I went to another wedding over the weekend and desperately needed something that would be perfect for an outdoor reception. Right at the last minute, Lilly Pulitzer saved me with this gorgeous blue dress that is both elegant and unique. Yes this is my first Lilly dress and I'm so happy to finally own one! I always see preppy lovers wearing her dresses yet could never find the "one". I sound like I'm talking about a wedding dress haha but there's always that one dress that makes you look amazing and this one's myn.

I paired the dress with some nude heels and my MK crossbody in this beautiful blush pink color. I love that the crossbody is roomy enough to fit everything yet is light enough to carry everywhere with you. I'm defiantly planning on taking this to NYC with me in a few weeks. I'm going to be in the city to attend the Her Campus Blog conference and I can't wait to meet some amazing bloggers! I'm so excited since this is my first conference!! And of course I'm going through the age old dilemma: what should I wear?! haha.
