How to Reduce Anxiety During Finals

Hey ladies! Apologies for the lack of posts lately! I've been getting prepared for finals week which is unfortunately this week. At least once it's over I'll have four months of summer break! I can't wait for this week to be over with so I can get back to living a normal life haha. Until then, I decided to take a break from studying and update my blog with a useful post. I'm sure we're all feeling a little stressed (okay, A LOT stressed) and nervous about finals so why not make a post to remind you to not lose your cool around this time of the semester?

I'll admit, I have tons of test anxiety and make everything seem bigger than it actually is but this time around I've noticed that I'm not that nervous. It's strange and so out of character for me! But then I realized it's because I've changed my habits and thinking which resulted in not going through the horrible amounts of anxiety that I've had in the past. Hopefully this will help some of you!

#1.) Be Prepared - The more you study, the more you're going to be prepared for finals which results in less anxiety since you know what you're actually doing! You've taken a million tests before all throughout your school career and have aced them. What makes this so different? Just study enough and you got this!

#2.) Sleep Well - I always make sure to sleep well the night before a final in order to be alert and ready when it's time to take the test. Not only will you retain information from studying the night before but you'll feel less nervous since it's one less thing to worry about!

#3.) Visualize Success - From my experience, negative thinking usually leads to negative results. Try to picture yourself being successful more often and you might just see a difference. If not, at least you'll feel slightly better during the test!

#4.) Breathe - Take a few deep breaths before and during the final in order to relax. I find that focusing on my breathing for a few seconds helps me to ignore the anxious thoughts in my head.

#5.) Reward Yourself - Each semester, whenever I'm done with finals I like to reward myself with something that I usually don't get everyday like some greasy junk food or some new shoes. It's just a great way to celebrate the end of finals while giving you something positive to think about while feeling so stressed during that time.

#6.) Remember That It's Not the End of the World - Our minds always seem to make a big deal out of the little things and although finals are important, it's not the end of the world if you don't do well. More importantly, failing a final is not a reflection of your intelligence. I've failed a final before and trust me, it sucks but I got over it and did amazing the second time around and I'm sure you will too!

Hope this helped in some way! Thanks for reading,

Travel Makeup: Urban Decay Naked On the Run Palette

Lately I've been on the hunt for a great travel palette to take with me to London and Paris in May. These days, I'm much more smarter about the makeup I'm buying and if it's going to be worth it to splurge or not. I've just accumulated so much makeup over the years that I can't seem to be finishing anything up! So when I spotted the latest Urban Decay palette which of course, is limited edition I just had to buy it. The palette contains 6 eyeshadows, bronzer, blush, lip gloss, mascara, and eyeliner...all in one package! I'm already impressed that they managed to fit in everything in there.

So let's go through the details...

Eyeshadows

Six new shades are in this palette which includes (from left to right in the pic): Dive, Fix, Resist, Dare, and Stun. The sixth one is 5050 which at first I thought was a highlighter since it was located next to the bronzer and blush. This is actually another eyeshadow that they just randomly decided to give a larger portion of since it's an all over shade. As always, the eyeshadow formula is exactly like the ones in the Naked palettes: creamy, smooth, and pigmented. The shades are all variations of browns and beiges except for Dive which is more of a copper.

Bronzer & Blush

The bronzer and blush is very pigmented so make sure to use it lightly. I wasn't very impressed with the bronzer since it has orange tones in it that doesn't look very natural. I prefer a more "brown" bronzer but at least it's matte! The blush on the other hand has some shimmer in it which isn't very noticeable so I wouldn't worry too much about it. The pink shade of the blush can look a little too intense for some fair skin tones but I think if used lightly, it would work for most skin tones. In the picture I've also included the 5050 eyeshadow (third one down) which doesn't show up well in pictures but it's just your typical highlighter/all over eye shadow shade. Nothing special if you ask me, but good to have.

Naked Lipgloss in Sesso

The palette comes with a full size lip gloss in the shade Sesso which I would describe as a rose color with some shimmer (fourth one down). The color isn't too overpowering and looks quite natural (hence, Naked lol) and works great as an everyday shade.

24/7 Glide On Mini Eye Pencil in Stag

My favorite part about this palette is the mini eye pencil since the UD 24/7 eyeliners are my favorite! They go on ridiculously smooth because of their creamy texture and stays on the whole day. The shade Stag is actually a brown/black color that doesn't look as harsh as black and goes perfectly with the eyeshadows. If only it was full-size...*sighs*

Perversion Mini Mascara in Blackest Black

It also includes a mini mascara which I'm not too fond about since it doesn't give any volume or definition for my lashes and simply makes them longer. I guess it's still good to have just in case I forget my favorite mascara at home!
Overall, I'm glad I bought this palette since now I don't have to bring a bunch of products with me while on vacation! Plus it's easy to fit in my bag and touch-ups are quite easy with the big mirror that it comes with which is the biggest that I've seen as far as palettes go! Nice work, UD. Just in case you feel like getting it, it's still available at Sephora.

Until next time lovelies,

Seeing Blue

Blazer: Philosophy (similar) // Top: I Heart Ronson // Jeans: Hollister // Bag: Michael Kors Selma Grommet in Optic White (ebay) // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Shoes: J. Crew (similar)

TGIF! It's been such a longgg week filled with so much school work including speeches which is my least favorite thing in the world. I don't think I'll ever be good at delivering a speech and prefer the feeling of relief after it's done and over with. Only two more weeks of school and it's finally over! I can't wait.

Anyways, this outfit I wore earlier this week to school and it was a refreshing change to wear some pastels, just in time for the amazing spring weather we've been having lately. This pastel blue blazer has been on repeat lately since it's made out of a comfy stretchy material (real specific eh?) that's perfect to wear to class. The top underneath is a new addition to my wardrobe and surprisingly found at JCPenny! I love the preppy collar and the jewel details.

What have you been wearing for spring lately?

Lace + Ruffles

Top: TJ Maxx // Jeans: Abercrombie // Necklace: Rocksbox (get your first month free with the code sweetshortandstylishxoxo) // Purse: Michael Kors Selma Grommet // Sunglasses: Express // Ring: J. Crew (old) // Shoes: Tahari (similar)

Hey Friday everyone! I haven't had time to post this week since school has been keeping me super busy lately. It's that time of year...finals, ugh. At least finals week ends on May 1st so I get to have four long months of summer break #winning

Anyways, here's what I wore last Friday when I was going out to dinner with some friends. If you live in Rochester and looking for a good restaurant, make sure to check out Trata at the Culver Road Armory! Defiantly recommend it. I didn't want to overdress for dinner yet I still wanted to put some effort into my outfit since it's Friday night and well, I'm a fashionista haha.

As always my style is girly so of course I would gravitate towards this lace, ruffle peplum shirt that I found at TJ Maxx. Sadly, I can't link the exact one but I'm defiantly not going to stop looking! I paired it with some jeans and my new Tahari heels that's perfect for dressing up and down. I already made a post about my favorite ankle-strap heels but I swear these ones are my new favorite because they're so comfy! First time I've ever worn a heel that's comfortable to walk in! This never happens haha. Go get it now!

Hope you enjoyed this post and have a lovely weekend!

Birds of a Feather

Top: Polo Ralph Lauren // Skirt: H&M (sold out) // Shoes: Steve Madden // Watch: Michael Kors (similar) // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Bag: Michael Kors Selma Grommet (Ebay)

Hey guys! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter break! Over the weekend I finally got the opportunity to wear this pencil skirt that I've had in my closet for the past two months. Sadly, it's sold out online at H&M but there's still a chance of it being in stores so check it out! I looked everywhere for something similar but sadly, nothing comes close to this specific style and design. I'll keep looking though!

I also got to take out my white MK bag from my closet after being in hibernation for the winter. A white bag is defiantly an essential for the spring/summer time cause it goes with everything! I completed the look with my trusty Ray-bans and nude heels that's also a great investment for your wardrobe. I decided to keep the look simple since I wanted the skirt to really speak for itself. It's such a fun, classy look that's perfect for spring!

My First Rocksbox

Happy Friday everyone! As promised, here's my post about my first Rocksbox and how the service works. As I'm sure you've already seen in my past outfit posts and Instagram, I've been wearing a few pieces from my first Rocksbox and so far, so good! I can't wait to see what I get in my next box!

Rocksbox is a jewelry service where you get three pieces of designer jewelry from various designers such as Loren Hope and House of Harlow every month, shipped directly to your door. The fun part is that you don't know what pieces are going to be sent! It's all based on a style quiz that you take when you first sign up and the experts over at Rocksbox decide for you based on the quiz results. Then once the items arrive (free shipping both ways, of course!) you get to wear them for a month and return them at the end for another box next month!

If you're like me and get sick of things really easily but don't have the funds to buy designer jewelry all the time, then this is perfect for you! It's only $19 a month for jewelry that typically costs more than $50 so I say it's not a bad deal. You also have the option of purchasing jewelry that you like from each box for a special discount!

For my first Rocksbox, I got sent the Perry Street "Taylor" necklace, Margaret Elizabeth "Ophelia" cocktail ring in Aqua, and the Gorjana "Laurel" bangle. Out of all the pieces, I'm just obsessed with the cocktail ring. It's perfectly my taste! Everything else was gorgeous too and things you would typically see me wearing on the blog but ugh that ring is everything! Defiantly thinking about buying that.

I have to admit, I hate surprises and didn't think they would do a good job but they defiantly proved me wrong! If you would like to give it a try and get the first month of Rocksbox for free, then use my code sweetshortandstylishxoxo when you sign up!

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Influenster x Yves Saint Laurent Voxbox

I always get so excited whenever a voxbox is on it's way and even though this is only my second, I seriously think this one is the best so far! Yes, a Yves Saint Laurent voxbox. How much better can it get? This voxbox contains the re-released YSL false lash effect mascara with the remastered formula.

Now I know it's been a long time since I've done a makeup review and funny enough that's how I started my blog but I have a good reason as to why I don't do them as often anymore! When I first started my blog, I was buying and reviewing makeup products 24/7 and ended up accumulating so much stuff that I wasn't even using up anything! I just kept buying and buying! I decided to quit that habit and now I'm more careful about which products I'm buying and if it's worth it or not. This Yves Saint Laurent mascara? Defiantly worth it even for a ex-makeup hoarder like me.

I've never tried any YSL mascaras in the past but I'm already hooked on this one after one use! I already have long lashes but they're quite thin so I'm always looking for a mascara that will give them volume in no time. I defiantly achieved that look with this mascara which now has a triple intensity formula: intense volume, intense color, and intense care. How does it have intense care exactly? The formula contains B5 pro-vitamin which helps to strengthen and protect your lashes!

Before

After

As you can tell from the photos, my lashes look dramatically different after two coats. I noticed it gave it a bit of a curl without having to use a eyelash curler so I can now skip that step! I've also noticed my lashes don't feel flaky or brittle as they normally would with mascara. They just feel soft which I'm assuming is due to the unique formula. The best part is that my lashes stayed like this the whole day! No need for any touch-ups or extra coats, quite impressive.

Overall, I'm pleased with the product and I'm so glad I was able to test it out cause now I have a new favorite! And can we just talk about the gorgeous packaging that YSL makeup is known for? A gold mascara tube just screams luxury :)
