Outfits to Beat a Blizzard in Style | 1 comment:

As you all probably know, weather conditions in the Northeast have been terrible lately. With freezing cold temperatures making it impossible to stay warm and limiting clothing options, what's a fashionista to do? I thought I'd put together three of my go-to outfits to help you survive the blizzard in style!

Outfit #1

A great way to beat the winter blues is to add some fun patterns to your wardrobe and a kick ass red lipstick. Note: Wearing lip gloss in windy conditions is a deadly mistake! I also included skinny black jeans instead of leggings in the outfit because of the thicker material that keeps you warmer.

Outfit #2

Just because it's winter doesn't mean you can't wear a pretty pink coat! This wool cocoon coat is perfect for keeping warm and standing out from the crowd. I'm also obsessed with the Ted Baker handbag which totally reminds me of spring.

Outfit #3

If you're heading out to a fancy dinner or event, then I recommend a cute skater skirt with knee high boots. I'd rather not take risks with my shoes during the winter so I prefer a flat boot but it's totally up to you. Oh and of course you need tights which I totally forgot to include in this!

Hope you enjoyed the post!

Roses | 4 comments:

Jacket: Guess (similar) // Sweater: Lookbook Store // Jeans: Abercrombie (similar) // Hat: H&M (similar) // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Bag: Steve Madden via Marshalls // Shoes: Marshalls (similar)

Lately I've been struggling with my outfit posts due to the ridiculously cold weather we've been having in the northeast. Luckily, that snow storm that they were talking about is nowhere in site! This is actually going to be my last outfit post outside until spring so I decided to get creative and start taking pictures indoors. Let's see how well this goes haha.

This is another typical outfit I would wear to school, if I replaced the light jacket with a coat of course. This is actually one of my favorite sweaters and even though I bought it years ago, Lookbook still has it in stock! They also have it in pink or black so check it out. It's such an amazing store but the standard shipping takes forever so I haven't been able to shop there in a while. Totally worth the wait though!

P.S. I'm on the hunt for a blush pink trench coat so if you see any let me know!

Until next time lovelies,

Monday Motivation: Mediocre | 1 comment:

Another Monday, another week to make things different. It always baffles me to see how many people are satisfied with living a mediocre life. They go to mediocre jobs or take mediocre classes even though it's clear that they're unhappy. It's all because they're too scared of getting out of their comfort zone.

These past two years, I was living a mediocre life and I was one of these people. Mondays were boring, Wednesdays were boring, even Fridays were boring! I had no clue that my life would get ridiculously better if I only decided to change. I can honestly say taking a chance with blogging made it all different. I stopped being mediocre and embraced a different life. I never knew what it was like to be free until I started doing what I love and admitted to myself that I was unhappy.

You weren't put on this earth to be mediocre. You weren't mean to pay bills and just die. There's so much more out there for you yet you have to take the first step and get out of your comfort zone! Yes it's uncomfortable and sometimes even painful but trust the process. The greatest people on this earth didn't become great just by sitting on the couch and wishing for it. They just decided to stop being mediocre. Imagine what you can accomplish if you did the same!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and if you're looking for more motivation (involving my favorite topic: college! haha) then check out my guest post over at The Preppy Mag!

Until next time lovelies,

Style Queen: Nicky Hilton | No comments:

For a long time I've been following Nicky Hilton's journey in fashion. As strange as this sounds, I'm a big fan of celebrities who are never really in the spotlight and don't do anything crazy. That's classy to me but hey everyone's different! I mean she's Paris Hilton's sister but you can't even tell from the way she dresses and behaves. Don't believe me? Here's a few looks of hers that might change your mind...

Such a chic yet effortless look and the Hermes Kelly? Perfection.

Talk about classy, I would totally wear this if I had a fancy place to go to of course #collegegirlprobs

Love the way she wore 2 shades of green, I defiantly need to try that!

This Burberry trench coat is everything...

and can we just talk about her impressive handbag collection? LOVE.

Just in case you want to know more about Nicky's style check out her book 365 Style!

Happy Friday everyone!

Monogrammed OTK Boots | No comments:

Coat: BCBG // Jeans: Abercrombie // Boots: Marley Lilly // Bag: Michael Kors (old) // Sunglasses: Express

Is it just me or is anyone else sick of winter fashion? Or even winter in general haha. I'm just sick of having to wear heavy layers and still freezing every time I go outside. I don't even remember what it's like to wear light, summer clothes anymore! Rant aside, let's get to the outfit...

I'm obsessed with this BCBG coat and it's my go-to this winter cause it's both stylish and ridiculously warm since it's wool. Plus I love anything military-inspired! I found it at Marshalls and it was the last one in my size, what luck! Fortunately, I found a couple sellers on Ebay so go ahead and get yourself one too :)

As for the boots, we all know how much I love over the knee boots but what makes these so special to me is the monograms! Seriously when was the last time you've seen boots with monograms on it? So unique! They're also great to walk around in and you can customize the colors. They're now on sale for $40 so get them while you can!

Hope everyone's having a good week!

New In: Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac | 1 comment:

Happy Monday everyone! I thought I'd stop by and share one of my new purchases since I'm feeling uninspired with my blog lately. I've been so busy with school that I just don't seem to have the time to think of new topics to blog about. I'm sure I'll get into the hang of things soon. In the meantime let's just talk about this new beauty that I impulsively bought once I realized that it was the last one in this color! Isn't it just gorgeous?

I've been wanting to buy a Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac for a long time but just couldn't decide on a color until now. This one is in the color Wintermint with gold hardware and it's going to look amazing in the spring. It was the last one in store so I had to have it! Just in case you're from the Rochester area, I bought this at Von Maur which is the only place that carries it in Rochester sadly. I'm not sure if they're going to be restocking it in this color in store anytime soon but I left a few links including one from the Von Maur website.

Personally, it's the perfect crossbody that fits my wallet, keys, and phone inside without feeling too tight. I've also noticed it's quite lightweight and doesn't hurt my shoulders like other bags. Defiantly worth the money. The only problem is now I want it in other colors! haha.

Until next time lovelies,

Quotes That Will Make You Want to Travel Right Now | No comments:

As you can tell from the lack of travel posts, I haven't traveled in a while. Cons of being a busy college kid *sighs*. In order to sate my wanderlust (which is impossible) I've spent some time on Pinterest looking at travel pictures. Of course, this didn't help at all since I came across these amazing travel quotes that make me want to pack my suitcase right now and just leave. If you're looking for a sign, this is it!

There's one thing worse than not traveling and that's regret...

One of the best things I've discovered through traveling<3

Once you make the decision to leave, everything falls into place.

That feeling of being a kid again is so addicting!

My all-time favorite.

Hope you enjoyed this post and happy Sunday everyone! Feel free to follow me on Pinterest!

My First Week With My New Major | 1 comment:

Hey guys! Sorry for not posting a few days, as you can guess I went back to college this week. I thought since my "Why I Changed My Major" post was such a hit (seriously, guys thank you for all the views!) I thought I should post a little follow-up to it.

This semester is my first semester with my new major and to anyone who's ever switched majors before you would know how scary it is to start studying something new in school. Luckily for me, I switched majors from business to media management so there are some similarities between the two. The only difference is now I'll be studying what I love, doing a lot more writing, and learning about some fun subjects (seriously accounting was my nightmare when I was a business major!). I've honestly forgot what it's like to be happy in school and actually be passionate about what I'm learning. Business seemed to drain me constantly but with media, I found that I'm actually eager to learn in class. So this is what college is supposed to feel like! haha.

Whenever you switch a major, it's always nerve-wrecking on the first day because you think to yourself "what am I gonna do if I don't like it?!" yet right when I sat down for my first class I knew this was for me. It was just that gut feeling you get when you know everything is going to be okay. I have to admit, it took a long time to get here and finally find that one thing that I love but I'm glad I finally figured it all out at the end. I thought this day would never come! The only regret I have is that I never listened to myself from the very beginning. I could've saved a lot of time...and money haha. At least I'm finally here right?

I could already tell this semester is going to be amazing and it feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders ever since I admitted to myself that business isn't for me. I'm telling you guys, if you're not doing what you love then you're wasting your time! Stop listening to other people who tell you what careers are the best for you. You know what's best for you and that's final. I hope no one else goes through the same mistakes that I did but sometimes it's necessary for us to fail because that's the only way we'll ever learn.

My best advice to anyone who's just switched majors or is thinking about it, go out and just try it. The more new things you try, the more you'll know what you like and don't like. Being a college kid is tough but you will eventually find what you love. Just be patient and trust yourself. No one has it all figured out and the idiots who say they do are in denial. As long as you're always moving forward, then you're bound to succeed eventually.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Golden Globes 2015 Favorites | No comments:

I hate to say it, but the Golden Globes fashion this year didn't really impress me. There was very few looks that "wow-ed!" me and no one really seemed to wear anything daring. Strange... Nonetheless, these four looks really stood out to me and it's no surprise, since they're all so elegant and feminine. Just my style! I would defiantly wear any one of these if I was going to an awards show. Only in my dreams...

Jennifer Lopez

Only JLo can wear something like this and make it look magnificent. It's obvious she was best dressed of the night! This is what I expect from a red carpet event...pure glamour.

Giuliana Rancic

The blonde hair, the pretty lace detail, and the sleek mermaid style makes this a clear winner in my book. I need this in my closet asap!

And can we just talk about how adorable the back is?!

Chrissy Teigen

I loved how effortless this look was, the bead detailing is perfection!

Kate Hudson

Wow, I wish I had the body to pull off a dress like this! Not only does she look amazing but the design of the dress is breathtaking.

Hope you enjoyed this post! Don't you just love awards season?

Until next time lovelies,

Current Obsession: Aviva Dress | 2 comments:

I admit, I don't have many opportunities to dress up in gorgeous gowns and pretend that I'm on the red carpet. But a girl can dream right? The few opportunities where I want to buy a gorgeous dress ends up being a failure due to bad quality or being ridiculously expensive. Luckily, I found the perfect shop that solves all my problems... Aviva Dress!

With a huge selection of prom dresses, wedding dresses, and special occasion dresses, Aviva Dress is a perfect place to shop for your next dress. What really attracted me to this site is the brand-name dresses that are being sold for such affordable prices. Right now they're having a sale for up to 85% off. Isn't that insane? I remember how expensive my prom dress was and I wish I can go back in time and order from Aviva. Why didn't I find out about this place sooner?!

Here are some of my favorites...

I can never resist a good mermaid dress...

They even have short dresses!

Defiantly a statement dress...

I'm obsessed with the sleeves and back on this one!

Although Aviva is a shop based in the UK, they ship worldwide and every order is sent in 48 hours! I know where I'm going for my next special occasion dress...

Hope you enjoyed this post!

College Talk: Why I Changed My Major | 6 comments:

"Ignoring your passion is slow suicide. Never ignore what your heart pumps for. Mold your career around your lifestyle not your lifestyle around your career".

As you all know, I write a lot of advice posts on my blog and share personal moments in my life with you all because I hope that it's going to help at least one person out there. Out of all the topics that I've written about, this one is the hardest to write despite many college students going through the same problem: we just don't know what to major in.

Right after high school, we're expected to go to college and pick a major and that career is what we're going to be doing for the rest of our lives. At the ripe age of 18 we're expected to just know what our passion is despite the fact that we have no idea who we are. Tough world, right?

Choosing a major to study was ridiculously difficult for me because I had so many broad interests. I wanted to be an actress, a writer, a wedding planner (alright so the last one is a bit cliche haha). The possibilities are endless, I could be a million different people. Why can't I choose my major the way I choose dresses? I could just try them all on and see which one fits and feels the best. Well, sadly life doesn't work that way. You don't have enough time so the only way you can narrow down all your choices is by making mistakes (my biggest pet peeve!).

The biggest mistake I've made through this process is listening to other people. I listened to my parents, my friends, and every other person who's in my life. I let them have power over me and convinced myself that my dreams were too "big" and that I should go for safety. I was ashamed of my talents and used to wonder why I was given them if they weren't going to benefit me in any way. Why couldn't I be good in math? or science? or any other majors that make a lot of money? So I settled for a major that would promise me a "secure" future. Never once did it occur to me if this would make me happy. And boy was I unhappy...

The first two years of studying a major that I didn't like turned out to be the worst decision I've ever made. Deep down inside, I knew that I was making a mistake but I kept convincing myself that it will eventually get better. It didn't. It came to a point where I had no motivation to even go to class anymore. Life just suddenly became meaningless and worthless. This was one of the lowest moments of my life. I just kept thinking to myself  "this isn't the way my life was supposed to turn out...".

Little did I know, my lowest moment was actually a blessing in disguise. The irony. If I never chose a major that I didn't like then I never would've gotten the motivation to start blogging which means I never would've discovered what I really like! It's funny how things seem to work out at the end.

Blogging made me realize what my passions are yet the whole time I was completely oblivious to it. All my life I was looking for the answer when in reality, the minute that I let go and stopped focusing on it was when the answer came to me. That's how dreams are, they always seem to sneak up behind you. It rarely shows up in front of you and many of us miss our calling because of this.

To anyone out there who feels lost and is unsure about the future: stop listening to others and learn to let go. Don't make the same mistake that I did. Listen to your intuition and remember that along the way the dots will connect. It's not a coincidence that you were born with certain talents and passions. These are all your clues to figuring out what you want to do for your future. Most of all, don't be afraid of taking chances and starting something new. You never know what it could lead to.

I hope you enjoyed this post and feel free to leave a comment with your thoughts!

Books That Every Fashionista Should Read | 9 comments:

In the age of the Internet and the countless information it gives, some people might say that books are becoming extinct. Although I don't have much time to read these days, I always manage to get inspiration from a fashion book once in a while. They're a great way to get inspired on a lazy Sunday and figure out what really goes on in the minds of fashion icons...or if you just don't know what to wear tomorrow.

Chanel and Her World by Edmonde Charles-Roux

Every fashionista knows about Chanel but do they know the extraordinary woman behind the label? Filled with a large collection of rare photos and drawings, this book goes into detail about Coco Chanel's rise to fame. It's a great read for any aspiring designer out there!

Lauren Conrad Style by Lauren Conrad

If you're a beginner to fashion or just want to go over the basics, I highly recommend Lauren Conrad's book. The book covers many topics such as how to mix expensive pieces with cheaper ones and focuses on helping you to define your own style.

365 Style by Nicky Hilton

If you're looking for something a bit newer, check out Nicky Hilton's book. Hilton's down-to-earth writing style makes it an easy read and there's many creative tips to updating your wardrobe. Oh and her 365 system is brilliant!

The Cheap Chica's Guide to Style by Lilliana Vazquez

Fashion is expensive, style is not. Vazquez proves that you don't have to spend millions in order to look it. It's the perfect guide that's filled with outfit suggestions, budget advice, and detailed shopping lists. Perfect for any college fashionista!

Refinery 29: Style Stalking by Piera Gelardi

If you're a big fan of street style or fashion blogs, then get ready to be inspired with this book! This style guide is packed with hundreds of ideas and photos from real-life women on the streets of NYC. What makes this book stand out from other style guides, is the emphasis on going out of your comfort zone and experimenting with your style.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Class Act | 15 comments:

Blazer: Abercrombie // Shirt: H&M // Jeans: Abercrombie (similar, on sale for $40) // Shoes: Converse // Bag: Steve Madden via Marshalls // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Belt: Target // Watch: Michael Kors // Bracelets: J. Crew (old) // Lipstick: Clinique Chubby Stick "Mightiest Maraschino"

College is starting back up soon so I got inspired to wear something preppy and collegiate. I bought this Abercrombie blazer a while back so it's no longer available in stores but I did link one from eBay. There's tons of sizes on there so make sure to search "Abercrombie blazer" to see more. Although Abercrombie does get a bad rep, once in a while they have some great stuff. I used to only go in there for jeans (one of the few places that has jeans that fit my short legs lol) and now find myself buying some great stuff from there. I remember back in middle school all they had was logo shirts and ridiculously short-shorts. They've come a long way...

Shooting these pictures was a whole another story though, the wind made it so difficult! There was very few shots where I didn't have a bunch of hair in my face #fashionbloggerprobs. I always wonder how "professional" bloggers deal with this kind of stuff. Especially the ones that post a new outfit on their blog everyday. Mmm...

Until next time lovelies,
