5 Headbands to Help Channel Your Inner Blair Waldorf | 1 comment:

Happy Halloween everyone! I hope everyone is having fun tonight! Sadly, I don't have plans this evening and will spend my Friday night watching Halloween movies. Or eating candy. Or both haha. Earlier today I had a business presentation and randomly I seemed to have dressed like Blair Waldorf. She was always my favorite character from Gossip Girl (I'm still sad the show is over!) and I swear her headband game is always on point. In case you were looking for some fabulous headbands to channel your inner-Blair, here are some of my favorites!

P.S. my headband is from J.Crew and I bought it a few years ago. They used to make such great headbands back in the day!

Olivia Pope Inspired | 3 comments:

Cape: The Limited // Gloves: The Limited // Clutch: Boutique in Istanbul // Sunglasses: No label // Hat: H&M (old) // Earrings: The Limited (sold out)

If you're not watching the show Scandal, you're totally missing out, just sayin. Not only is the plotline addicting, but Olivia's style is impeccable. She wears so many timeless, high-quality pieces that everyone should invest in for their closets. Kudos to the wardrobe department!

If you're looking to add some Olivia Pope style to your wardrobe, look no further than the Scandal-inspired collection at The Limited. I'm awed by the gorgeous suits, dresses, and jackets that are perfect for the office or internships! I fell in love with this cape that I wanted to glam up with some leather gloves and a fedora. It's a great piece to take from day to night and it gives such a retro feel to any plain outfit.

Happy Scandal day loves!

Style Talk: 3 Coats That Will Make You Love Winter | 4 comments:

I wish fall would never leave but sadly, it will eventually be replaced with the cold, harsh winters that upstate NY is known for. Add walking across a college campus on a daily basis into the equation and all of a sudden it results in a horrible cold! I've made that mistake too many times so I thought I'd put together a post filled with my favorite coats that I've been eyeing lately. Not only are they super stylish but will actually keep you warm this winter!

Pretty pastel blue, large black buttons, and the wool material makes this coat perfect for everyday.
Here's the link to it on Zara.com

There's a Kate Middleton in all of us and for only $50 it's quite a bargain compared to other coats! Check it out on Forever21.com

If there's one pattern I've been loving lately, it's windowpane. I defiantly need this in my closet soon! It's still on Express.com but not for long!

Shopping Your Own Closet | 6 comments:

One of my favorite things to do on a day off is to organize my closet and more importantly, shop my own closet. Although getting rid of some old stuff can be quite tempting (I'm in a constant state of self-improvement and that includes my wardrobe!), I find it more useful to try to make my old clothes new again. Not only is it budget-friendly, but it challenges you to be more creative with your style!

So how do you make something old, new again? Quite simple! I like to personally mix and match it with different combinations of shirts or bottoms or my personal favorite: accessories. A new scarf or jewelry can completely change your old clothes into something refreshingly new. My last tip would be to get it tailored to your body shape. The look of a jacket or even a pair of jeans changes when you get it tailored to perfection. It can even make you look slimmer! It can be a bit pricey to get all your clothes tailored, but one or two staple pieces can be worth it.

What sparked the idea to write this post was this H&M coat (or would it be a long jacket?) that I found hiding in the back of my closet. I completely forgot that I had it and still haven't even worn it once! The puffy sleeves, gold zipper accents, and baby pink color is totally fall fashion worthy. Maybe it should be included in a new outfit post? Let me know what you think!

Neutrals | 10 comments:

Sweater: Joie (old)// Skirt: J. Crew - 25% off! // Bag: Michael Kors via TJ Maxx // Shoes: Vince Camuto via Marshalls // Hat: H&M // Sunglasses: Borrowed from my awesome photographer

Cropped sweater + high waisted skirt = my fall uniform! It's such a cozy outfit on this chilly fall day and I love how the neutral colors makes accessorizing easier. I paired  it with my new Michael Kors crossbody that I showed in my Suede post here. Also I rediscovered my favorite H&M fedora which totally makes any boring outfit look so much more stylish. I love being able to shop my own wardrobe and pull together new outfits from old pieces. Sadly, they no longer sell this exact version of the hat but they have similar styles that I'm sure are just as pretty at H&M so check it out!

P.S. Sorry about not being able to find links for certain items that I've bought at Marshalls/TJ Maxx. I wish they had online shopping!

The World Has Lost a Legend... | No comments:

Rest in peace Oscar De la Renta, one of the world's iconic designers. It was confirmed last night that he passed away at the age of 82. He was always a personal favorite of myn for the way he designed such elegant, Old-Hollywood style gowns. He was truly a one of a kind designer who put so much effort and craftsmanship into each one of his designs. I think the worst part of seeing a designer pass away is that you know their label will never be the same again. Designers can always copy past looks, but in order to create new looks great minds are needed like Oscar De la Renta's.

Here are some of my favorites from his past collections that made him in my eyes, a true fashion icon.

Such beautiful work! Rest in peace and thank you for sharing with the world your creative talent and eye for beauty! Rest in peace, Oscar De la Renta.

Blazer: BCBG // Skirt: Express // Shirt: Ralph Lauren // Clutch: TJ Maxx // Shoes: Madden Girl // Earrings: Random boutique in Istanbul

Oh how I've missed getting all dolled up for a night out on the town, or in this case for Fashion Week of Rochester. As I've mentioned before, it's my first time going to a fashion show as a blogger and I wanted to look my best. I'll admit, it took me a while to figure out what to wear but I knew I just wanted to try out the infamous "jacket over the shoulders" look that practically every blogger has tried. I thought it would look weird, but it made the outfit look so much more glamorous than it actually is! No wonder why the look is so popular.

Right when I saw this pink blazer I knew I had to have it. It's the perfect touch of girly to any simple outfit along with the fringe skirt that gives a more retro vibe. I completed the look with long earrings which I never wear on a regular basis since they pull on my small ears so much. It was worth it for a night though! Oh and did I mention the sparkly clutch? So glad I bought it a few years ago from TJ Maxx!

P.S. apologizes for my hair being a mess, it was so windy that day!

RFW - Fashion Underground Show | No comments:

Happy Sunday everyone! As you all know, I spent my Saturday night at Fashion Week of Rochester (yes I actually had plans on a saturday night for once haha!) and I have to admit I was actually impressed with the show. Honestly, my expectations weren't high because I've never really associated Rochester with fashion. When you walk outside, you never see anyone actually putting in effort with the way they look and there's not much options when it comes to shopping. Boy was I wrong! I was shocked to see pretty ladies in LBD's, Chanel bags, and Christian Louboutins! Where have all these people been hiding?! I can't tell you how amazing it was to be around people who love fashion as much I do and I'm defiantly going to be attending again next year!

I decided to attend the last show which was called Fashion Underground and invited my best friend to come along with me because let's face it, everything's better with your best friend! The show was at the Midtown Tunnel which literally took an hour to find. Honestly, I think they could've done better with the location.

The show lasted about an hour and consisted of all fashion categories such as eveningwear, casual, menswear, swimsuit, and even wedding. The show's description only mentioned eveningwear so I was defiantly surprised! All the outfits were from local designers and while it was nice to discover so many new talent, I just wasn't "wow-ed" by anything.

Overall, I was impressed with the way they put so much effort into the show and really made it into a fun, glamorous event for all fashion lovers. More importantly, the revenue raised goes towards a local charity so who can complain with that? I'm defiantly going to be attending next year!

Until next time lovelies,

Suede | 2 comments:

Dress: Lord & Taylor // Shoes: Madden Girl (old) // Purse: Michael Kors via TJ Maxx // Necklace: BCBG (old) // Bracelet: Ann Taylor (old) // Sunglasses: H&M (old)

As hard as I try, I can't seem to get the color maroon out of my mind. It's just such a rich color that seems to look flattering on every skin tone. This time around, I fell in love with this suede dress from Lord & Taylor. It's one of those dresses that's appropriate enough to wear for a day time event because of it's modest necklines yet it doesn't look matronly at all. I'm just absolutely in love with it and I consider it to be the perfect dress for fall!

As for the crossbody bag, I was actually in the market for one since I've worn my old Coach one to death. Out of nowhere, at TJ Maxx I spot this perfect Michael Kors one that has a leopard accent. I didn't want to splurge, but I felt like it was destiny once I noticed that it was the only one left! I just couldn't help it haha. Oh the things we do for fashion...

Until next time lovelies,
