Trends Talk: The Return of the Choker

In the world of fashion, trends always get recycled. Unless you've been living under a rock (highly unlikely) then you must've noticed the 90's revival that we've been going through right now. Everything that used to be trendy back during my childhood is back but in a refreshingly modern way compared to how they used to be worn. Just take a look at the crop tops and skinny heels trends, at one point in time these were worn by Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears yet has been modified enough for the every day women to wear today. Of course, not all trends that make it's way back is a hit. Yes. I'm talking about the choker. Ya know the ones that we used to buy for 25 cents from a machine? Those chokers.

I first saw the trend making it's way back when Kylie Jenner posted a photo on Instagram, wearing a thin black choker around her neck. Then I saw it being sold on Asos and now it seems to slowly be making its way into stores. Mhm...not too sure about this. All I remember when I was wearing those in the 90's was the "tattoo" chokers that always ended up being too loose to wear.

Still don't know what I'm talking about? Here's some photos to help you remember...

Alicia Silverstone aka the 90's movie queen. Not gonna lie, it doesn't look too bad on her but then again she's gorgeous and can probably pull off anything.

Yes, guys wore chokers too but it doesn't mean that it looked any better. Jared Leto is the only exception. Seriously does this guy not age?

Lastly, Drew Barrymore because let's face it, a post about the 90's isn't complete without mentioning her.

So what do you think about this trend? Would you wear it in 2014 or are you looking forward to this trend going away? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time lovelies,
