Summer Class

 Tee: Polo Ralph Lauren
Shorts and shoes: Express (here)
Bag: Coach  (similiar)
Watch: Target (old)
Bracelets: Tiffany & Co (here) (here)

As you guessed from the title, this is what I wore to my first day of my summer college class. Although it does suck to take classes during the summer, I think it's great to be able to save some money and get ahead in your degree. Plus I find the classes to be more laid-back and less chaotic than taking a bunch of classes during the fall and spring semesters. Highly recommend it. Anyways, enough of the boring stuff let's get onto the outfit!

I wore my go-to high waisted shorts from Express that has a pretty lace pattern that makes a rather simple outfit look much more interesting. I paired it with a white v-neck and some comfortable sandals. Overall, it's a pretty easy outfit to put together in the mornings yet still makes you look like you actually took the time to make yourself look good. Hope you enjoyed this post and have an awesome week! :)

My 10 Best Travel Tips

Hey guys! Here are some great travel tips I've learned over the years from various people through my travels. Some of these things are not common knowledge but can help make the biggest difference when it comes to an easier trip whether it's across the country or across the world. Here we go...

#1.) Plan All Your Outfits

Instead of bringing a bunch of clothes that you think you might wear, plan your outfits ahead of time so you can save room for more important things such as the souvenirs you'll be bringing back. For longer trips, I also like to try on each outfit before traveling and taking a picture of it. That way, I can just scroll my phone and see what I should wear instead of wasting time trying on different outfits.

#2.) Break In Shoes Before The Trip

This one may seem obvious, but I've made the unfortunate mistake of buying new shoes for vacation and not breaking them in beforehand. It was so painful walking with them while sightseeing and once I took off the shoes, my feet looked horrible! Not the best feeling in the world...

#3.) Photocopy Passport & Other Documents

This one might be more important for someone who travels internationally since it's quite a pain to retrieve your documents once you lose them while on vacation or before actually arriving at your destination. I like to print copies of them to either bring with me or email them to myself so I can have digital versions of them to pull up whenever I find myself in a mess. Better safe than sorry!

#4.) Roll Your Shirts

If you need more room in your luggage, roll some of your clothing such as shirts! I find that it takes up less space and once I get to the hotel, there's always a free iron provided in your room that I use to get rid of the wrinkles on everything.

#5.) Bring an Adapter

It's strange how different countries have different shaped electrical outlets isn't it? Save yourself the hassle of trying to find one in the country you're going to visit and just buy one for cheap at places like Wal-Mart.

#6.) Pack Everything Important in Your Carry-On

I can't stress this one enough, based on my travels to Istanbul about 80% of the time my checked-in luggage got lost. It's such a horrible feeling to not have the important stuff with you!! These days, I try to only travel with my carry-on, not only to have everything important with me but to also not pay tons of money for my checked-in luggage. Traveling can be a pain, sometimes.

#7.) Download a Currency Conversion App

I've been visiting Istanbul my entire life, yet still don't understand the currency and that leads to spending more money than I thought would. Luckily, technology is amazing and there's apps out there like Amount (they couldn't be more creative with the name? ha) that easily lets you know what things like 39 euros would be in dollars.

#8.) Learn The Local Language

I'm not saying you need to know the entire language by heart but try to learn a few key phrases here and there. Whenever you need help and you ask a local on the street, they're more likely to help you if they see that you're making an effort to speak the same language as them.

#9.) Keep Your Money in 2 Different Places

Once in a while, things go wrong while on vacation and you might find yourself having lost your debit card or wallet. Make sure to always keep extra cash or another card stored away in your room's safe box or give it for safe-keeping to your travel companion.

#10.) Let Go

I saved the most important one for last...make sure to have fun while on vacation and try things that you've never done before! You should let go of whatever insecurities or doubts you're holding in your mind and be free! You deserve it! Try out the local foods, meet new people, take amazing pictures for Instagram (you know you want to...) and most of all, live in the moment.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Modern Crochet

Shirt: Marshalls
Shorts: Abercrombie (here)
Bag: DSW (old)
Ring: J.Crew (here)
Shoes: Express (here)
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban (here)

There's just something so appealing to me about an all-white outfit that simply screams summer that I couldn't help but feature it a second time on my blog. In case you missed it, here's a link to the first time in my "Sports Glamour" post. This is another outfit I would wear to a day at college and I think it's both eye-catching and airy enough to stay cool throughout the day. Take note: if you're a clumsy person and tend to spill stuff on yourself easily, don't wear all-white haha. I swear, it's dangerous wearing this color but fashion does favor the bold ;)

Makeup Essentials For Traveling

"Less is more" is key when it comes to packing for a trip. You only want to bring the essentials that are versatile enough to go from day to night. Also, make sure to bring products that can't be easily opened or broken since I can't tell you how many times I've opened up my carry on and have had products spilled in there. Believe me, it's not pleasant! Sephora does carry many of these items and more in travel sizes but if you feel like saving some money, try to pour some of the liquid products into smaller travel containers which you can find at drugstores. Remember, liquid products should be 3.4oz and under when traveling with a carry-on. Anything larger than that has to go into checked luggage, *rolls eyes*

1.)  Foundation

For every day I like to use a BB cream like Dr. Jart's (obsessed with this!) that feels light on my skin yet still gives decent coverage. If it's a long trip I'll just bring the actual tube it comes in but for shorter trips I'll just pour some of it into a plastic container so it won't take as much room. I'll also do this if I need to bring a high coverage foundation to use for a special occasion while I'm on vacation.

2.) Blush/Bronzer Duo

There's really not much you can do when it comes to condensing bronze or blush (unless it's liquid of course) so I usually opt to buy duos such as this Nars one. Why carry two compacts when you can have one? Many other brands including ELF carries duos such as this so make sure to look around!

3.) Brows

This small compact of Anastasia brow powder is perfect for traveling because it gives you both a lighter shade for the daytime and a darker one for going out at night. If you don't feel like bringing eye brow powder but still want to define your brows, bring along some matte brown eyeshadow that can also be used for your eyes!

4.) Eyeshadow

Eyeshadow is something that I can't live without and I used to bring my holy grail Naked 2 palette everywhere I went and then I realized it was too big for traveling. Plus I ended up not using all the shades so what's the point? I ended up finding other palettes to bring that have at least three or four shades that range from light to dark that I know I'll use. As for eye primer, it's really up to you but I like to take a palette that also has a cream shadow in it so I can use that as a base instead of the primer.

5.) Mascara

If all else fails, at least bring mascara. It instantly brightens your eyes and makes you look polished. Since mascaras expire quickly I like to opt for some great drugstore ones such as Maybelline.

6.) Lips

Out of all these beauty products, the one I'll choose again and again is chapstick! I can't stand the feel of dry, chapped lips especially after you get off a plane. Other than that, for a lip color I'll go with something neutral that complements any eye look easily. If there's a special occasion I'll bring along a darker lipstick such as a red or maybe a shiny lip gloss to layer over the neutral lip color.

7.) Brushes

I typically only bring 3 brushes: a powder brush, blending eye brush, and an angled brush that can be used for both eyebrows and eyes. For everything else I'll just use my fingers!

8.) Setting Spray

This one's completely optional but I always like to bring a mini bottle of setting spray with me from Urban Decay, that really makes sure that my makeup stays in place the whole day. I never worry about touch-ups with this and don't have to use a primer before foundation since my makeup literally doesn't budge with this on. Highly recommend it for travel and for special occasions!

Hope this was helpful and if you have any travel makeup tips, please share!

Lush Dragon's Egg Bath Bomb

I always love saving the best bath bombs to use after a long excruciating day of work. This time around I worked an 11 hour shift and was dying to get home and try this. I bought this one along with the Floating Island bath melt which I already reviewed here. Dragon's Egg is considered to be the motherload of all bath bombs (despite it not looking like much from the outside) because of it's extra-fizzy powers. As for the smell, it has a lemon-citrus scent that isn't overpowering but wakes up your senses and makes you feel refreshed.

Once added into water, I was pleasantly surprised by how fizzy it actually was! It made a bunch of crackling noises and it was fun to watch it breaking down in the water so quickly. After a few seconds of swirling around in the tub, it turned the water into an orange/sherbet color mixed with glitter and made my bathroom smell pleasant without it giving me a headache.

After a half hour of soaking in the tub, it softened my dry skin and didn't leave behind a greasy residue which is always a plus! The glitter on the other-hand was left behind on my skin and on the tub but it quickly came off once I used some water. I did notice the smell did fade away into a baby powder scent after an hour on my skin so if you're not into these types of scents then I don't recommend this bath bomb.

Lastly, I pretty much underestimated how much I was going to like this one, I think this a bath bomb that everyone should try at least once! Would I consider it to be the "best" though? Not really. I have other bath bombs in mind that I liked better but this defiantly made my top 10 list! It's worth a try!

Zoya PixieDust - Lux

Pictures simply do not do justice for how gorgeous this mani looks in real life. And yes, I'm wearing nail polish and not gel for once. I don't even remember the last time I've worn regular, old, nail polish! But I couldn't resist picking this up when I was browsing through a local beauty store and noticed this was left over from Zoya's recent PixieDust spring 2014 collection. Mind you, this is a matte texture collection but if you're like me and hate the feeling of textured polish, you can always add a top coat for some shine.

Lux would be described as a muted pale pink polish with a variety of silver glitters which as you can tell from the photo, shines beautifully in the light. This is actually the first time they've used holographic glitters in the PixieDust formula and I think it turned out spectacular. I'm always looking for nail polishes that have a crazy amount of glitter in it so I don't have to do so many coats and this just nails it (no pun intended).

Of course my dslr camera was going crazy from the glitter so I took photos with my iphone as well. The dslr camera seemed to show the texture better while the iphone caught the look of the glitter quite nicely...

The actual application was a bit difficult since there is so much glitter packed into one polish that at times it can come out quite chunky. Just make sure to apply it in thin coats and you should be good to go. Other than that, I should mention THIS IS THE MOST QUICKEST DRYING POLISH I'VE EVER TRIED and when I mean quick, I mean it dries before you even finish painting a nail! I'm pretty sure it's because of the matte formula so make sure to work quick while applying this.

Overall, I'm quite mesmerized by the amount of glitter this contains and how you only need two coats to make it opaque! It's so much better than trying to layer a bunch of glitter polishes together to get the same look. Glitter addicts, this polish is defiantly for you. The only part I'm worried about is removing this mani, oh the joy of beauty.

Full Bloom

Shirt, shoes: Express
Necklace, shorts: J.Crew
Bag: Guess
Watch: Michael Kors

Usually I'm a lot more simple when it comes to my style but today I had the urge to do something a bit more colorful yet still remain preppy. Whenever I try to put together an outfit, I like to center all the attention on one thing and in this case I wanted these polka-dot shorts to stand out. Right when I saw it at J.Crew, I had to have it, I mean just look at those scallop details! So adorable! I've been seeing scallop details on clothing a lot lately yet didn't really find anything I liked until now. It's still available in stores along with the necklace if you wanted to check it out. Don't forget the 15% student discount!

Deal of the Week: LC By Lauren Conrad High Heels

Do you ever just see something on everyone and try not to buy the exact same thing even though you really like it? Well that's how I felt with these thin, strappy black high heels which I've been seeing everywhere in the fashion world these days. They're sleek, makes your legs look longer, and goes with everything and I think that's what made them so popular. So I joined the bandwagon when I finally saw a pair on sale at Kohls for only $36.99 compared to others that I've seen at various shops for around $90 and up!

I'll admit, they're not the most comfortable shoes in the world due to not having a platform bottom but I think they're tolerable enough to wear for a few hours for a special occasion. Plus did I mention they go with everything?

Here are some more photos of these shoes but I'm sure you've all seen them hundreds of times in fashion magazines, blogs, and on celebrities:

It's still avaliable on the Kohls website (here) and in stores so check it out!

Bohemian Summer

Dress: Express
Shoes and watch: Michael Kors
Bag: Coach
Evil eye necklace: Istanbul

If you couldn't already tell from other posts, Express is one of my go-to stores when it comes to stylish, good-quality clothes for cheap. I swear, it's like they send out a coupon every week when you're on the Express NEXT program and then on top of it when you have their store credit card...well as you can see I'm obsessed haha. Moving on, maxi dresses are another essential when it comes to the summer time because they're so easy to put on and just go. Plus it makes us short girls look taller! That's very important in our world haha.

I usually don't go for the bohemian look and instead stick to preppy clothing most of the time, but blogging seems to bring out the courageous fashionista in me. I find myself trying on different clothes that I normally wouldn't pick and expanding my fashion horizons. I think it's refreshing to switch it up once in a while and do something different. You never really know what your style is like until you start experimenting.

Style Star: Emily Blunt at Conan

Hello lovelies! I haven't been that inspired lately when it comes to celebrity fashion but then I watched an episode of Conan two weeks ago and saw Emily Blunt in this gorgeous all-white outfit. If you've already read my "Sports Glamour" post (here), I talked about my obsession with head-to-toe white and thought this was a perfect example of how to wear white but in a more formal setting without looking like a bride.

Although there's not many good photos of this look (shame!), you can see that Emily chose to wear a strapless crop top and paired it with high-waisted pants which I'm about 99% sure is by Victoria Beckham. I remember seeing Victoria wearing that same crop top on the red carpet at the Met Ball and know that it was one of her designs. Sadly, I didn't see anything on the web confirming who the designer was but whoever it is, did a fantastic job.

Anyways, most people wouldn't think that a crop top and high waisted pants would be something for a formal event but it's actually quite the classy look especially since Emily topped it off with some retro waves and red lipstick. Mind you, she's wearing a crop top without showing any skin so it's sophisticated enough for a formal event yet manages to stand out from the rest. I can totally see myself wearing something like this to an event, if only I had an somewhere to go to! *sighs*.

Hope you enjoyed this post! Which celebrities have been inspiring you lately?

Top 5 Best Dry Shampoos

I'm always looking for new ways to improve my hair but one thing that I keep going back to is dry shampoo. Dry shampoo has become an essential for me and has improved my damaged, color-treated hair so much since it allows me to not have to wash my hair everyday. Bonus: your hair color lasts longer. It's something I think every college girl should have especially since we're always on the go. So without further ado, here's my top 5 list of best dry shampoos I've ever used and will re-use again and again:

Lush No Drought

This is the one I'm using right now and I love the lemony-clean smell it has that smells the most natural on your hair. I hate that chemical-hair-product smell which gives me a headache most of the time so I think this is perfect for people who are sensitive to scents. Plus it's in powder form so it's easy to use and soaks up the oils in your hair (okay, gross haha) in no time. Only con I would say is that it can get a bit messy, just make sure not to wear black!

This is the one I first tried when I discovered it through the beauty world on Youtube. Back then, I didn't even know what dry shampoo was but so many people raved about it so I had to try. This one's a spray so it's much easier to use than the Lush one and gives a good amount of volume to your hair. It comes in many different scents now but I like to stick to the original. Plus it's the cheapest and you can find it practically anywhere! If you're a beginner to dry shampoo, I say try this first!

Dove Refresh + Care

Another drugstore one is this Dove one that I tried when I ran out of Batiste while I was on vacation in California. It's great for all types of hair but particularly people with straight hair since it doesn't leave a sticky residue and is easy to comb out. Did I mention it's also under $5? Winning.

Big Sexy Hair

This one I don't hear a lot of people talking about surprisingly, but it's actually one of the best I've ever used for major volume. If you're someone who has thin, limp hair then I would highly recommend this one since it only takes a few sprays to get that southern belle sorta-of look. Hey, I've been to Texas. I've seen big hair.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray

If you love the beachy hair look or simply want to try out something a bit more brand-name then look no further than Oribe. Techniqually this one isn't a dry shampoo but a texturizing spray but I have found that it soaks up oil quite nicely and dries your hair to give it more texture and lift.

Hope you enjoyed this list! What's your favorite dry shampoo?

My Day With Marilyn

Shirt: Zara
Shorts: Express
Headband: Cara (via Nordstrom)
Shoes: Madden Girl
Bag: Boutique in Istanbul

Seriously, who isn't a Marilyn Monroe fan? I actually forgot all about having this bag in my closet until a few days ago. I bought it at a small boutique in Istanbul the last time I was there that actually makes these by hand and prints all sorts of pop culture icons onto their products. If you're looking for something similar, I'm sure you can find it on Etsy!

As for the outfit, high-waisted shorts are on my list of my favorite things to wear during the summer. They're able to hide a muffin top very well and gives a retro look to an outfit easily. In order to follow the retro theme in this outfit, I paired it with a vintage-looking top from Zara and switched it up a bit with some heels instead of my usual flats.
